Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, In case anyone is thinking of removing the telephone handset from their 996, it's very easy and inexpensive to do. It gets rid of the naff 80s handset and allows you to move the passenger seat all the way forwards (fairly essential if you want to fit a baby seat in the rear). The old extended centre console side panel (996.552.093.03) and handset unscrew quite easily. A new flush fitting side panel (996.552.091.06) in leatherette simply snaps into place. The new part costs £48 inc VAT and delivery from PorschShop and it's very hard to tell the difference between leather or leatherette from either the drivers or passenger side as you can't really see them both together. Some before and after photos are shown below. Cheers, Neil.
