Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Would I buy another one? Nope, because I'm never selling my current one and I don't need two  IMS whatever - if it breaks, I'll fix it then.
I certainly plan on buying another. I was hoping prices would drop but that doesn't seem to be happening. MC
You're being fleeced if you're daft enough to spend $4500 on a false fear, especially when you've more chance of getting scored bores. .......and if someone's telling you that 'ims solution' is an engine out job, they're also conning you.
Would buy another but it would need to be a Turbo or GT but I fear a 997 is calling to join its older brother.😄
I resemble that remark! It is engine out on a tip though.
This is the [nice] problem!
It's a hell of a lot of money to be spending on something that's not needed. .....and it doesn't have to be engine out either (as seen here): https://rennlist.com/forums/996-for...d-eps-ims-upgrade-kit-write-up-with-pics.html
You're right, it's a lot, but I want complete peace of mind and it's the only way to get it.
If a small rock hits that oil pipe and ruptures it, it's game over for your engine by the time your oil light comes on. You're also robbing oil that's required to supply other parts of the engine by having that supply to the bearing. Nothing's perfect. For peace of mind I take it there's a 100% guarantee for a replacement engine if it fails.
I would, would be a cobalt blue C4s or Mk2 Gt3 though.
Haha! No. We are all different and the point I make is that it's about your attitude to risk. Mine is different to yours. Doesn't make either of us right!
What risk?  BTW Nicely presented vids.
Nicely documented video! Personally I'm on my 3rd 996, would I buy again 🧠absolutely 💯 My advise is either by a broken one and have it rebuilt or buy one that has documentation for a full rebuild. I reckon you need 20k for a decent 996, or a good contingency in the bank. The cost of a full rebuild is over 10k these days, mine was labour free for any parts that needed changing while engine was out so I had everything done ✔ I'd also add I'd rather have a higher mileage 996 with lots of receipts rather that a lower mileage car with none. Only my personal opinion tho 🤷
