I am looking to do a Project car. I like the 996 platform. My Wife recently Purchased a Boxter I really like it. My daily is an Audi S6 V10. Which I adore and will eventually turn into a Major project car Someday( cough 4 Door Lamborghini Cough.) But for now I want to do a little something different. I came across renegade hybrids. Well received? Seem like good guys. But has any one ever thought of doing an R8 engine swap? Feasibly both mid engine cars same VW mothership. AWD systems R Tronic vs tiptronic. Obviously issues that V10 is going to be really long but that LS engine squeezed in there. But I digress. I kinda like the sound of a demestic engine cheap upgrades and parts something I haven't seen in a while. Well thanks for letting me ramble a bit. I have a few crazy Ideas every once in a while, But sometimes they bear fruit. Still V10 Porsche sounds good. Like one of those million dollar Gt's

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The 996 is nowhere near a mid engine car. The transmission location is the fixed point that can't be changed so if the V10 is really long it's not going to fit. What are your mechanical abilities?
996 rollers are dirt cheap. If you're looking to turn a large fortune into a small one, you should definitely do it.
Mechinical abilities? I can weld a fair bit if need be. The rest is just nuts and bolts hoses Chains hoists lifts and you tube videos. lol The tranmission fixed point? cant be moved. I have seen pretty crazy **** done if it involves crazy man with Welder and Grinder. axels can be lenghthened shortened you know whatever. Not that it should be done but just saying lol
The transmission is fixed because it's a transaxle - the differential is integrated. This means that if you need to move the transmission forward, you'll also need to move the wheels, suspension, fenders, body in white... Alternatively, you can chop up the car and move the bumper back.
^^ Yep totally and All depends on how far down the Rabbit hole you want to go. The point would the modifications be is it safe and structurally sound.
Crawl under a 996 and spend a few minutes looking around before posting again.
Its easier to look at when its on a lift. I'd rather do that.
Imo000 lol. Thanks for the concern. Compared to the S6 my wife's Boxster is a cake walk so Bruh I ain't scurrd. Don't mind getting my hands Dirty.
Holy cow direct access to the exhaust Manifolds! look at all that room! Vs this the Engine Barely fits in the bay the red you see are ignition coils there are 10 you can see 4 the engine extends under the airboxes
