Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Don't know if this is normal - but I get a sound which can only be described as like the noise lottery balls make when tumbling round in the machine! I really notice it when I am cruising on light throttle. No problem when on the gas as I have sports cans! It's not loud, but it is annoying. It may depend on the road surface, and so I was wondering whether it is tyre noise. I have Michelin Pilot Sports fitted, and of course they are drum tight at 44psi, and ping when you flick them. Do other people get this noise? btw I have a 1999 Carrera 4. Any insight appreciated Cheers Bill PS I also get a bit of creaking from the back on occaision - but I'm guessing this could be the radius arms. I don't think the two are related.

Difficult to suss via description but my initial guess is tyres. Hopefully others with the same tyre make will say they experience the same. My next thought is initial stages of pencil coil failure. As Richard H will tell you a coil can missfire without causing a P0300 code so therefore the EML will not appear and what you can experience is a rumbling kinda sound through a silencer. You would need the car on a system like Durametric or PIWIS because Live-data is needed, this will show up missfires in their early stages of failure. As for your suspension there are so many things it could be. My advice is to spray all the joints with WD40 then grease them as well as you can with copper-ease. This may cure it.

Have never had that noise with MPS2's on mine, would look for other causes. TB
