Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Contemplating buying some stainless manifolds, just wondered how big a job this would be to do myself? Can you explain how to do this, and what would the benefits be of fitting them, if any? Thanks in advance Baz.

POST 2Original post

Technically they aren't difficult to do. Undo the manifold to cat bolts then the manifold to block bolts and that's it. Problem is, have you seen the state of the bolts after only 5-6 years? All the bolts and nuts were round on my 10 year old car. There is little to be gained by replacing the exhaust manifolds and you could really be opening a can of worms with seized or snapped bolts. Better to spend the money on a sports exhaust like the Oettle or Sommerfeld ones on ebay or pay someone to do the pipe modification. The car will sound absolutely fab after. No performance gain but you really have to hear a car with the sports exhaust to know what I mean.

Thanks for that Minny. Regards Baz
