Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi , this my first post to the group. I just finished the instalation of an aftermarket top with a heated glass back window. fit is perfect, defroster grids are small and black. Total time to install was less than 5 hours and no alterations to frame. top folds just right, but there is slightly less room in the service postion. I took extra care to clean and lube all pivot points and seals. I still need to work up a wire harness to hook up the defroster. FYI: I work in the automotive repair field so my labor times are accurate as is my assesment of the opperation of the top. The window is smaller by 5 inches in height and about 4 inches narrower across the width. but visability from the seat is as good as before, maybe better without the distortion even new plastic has. the top was made by a southern California company.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

forgot to say that my car is a 1998 Boxster.

POST 3Original post

Where'd you buy the top and how much did it cost? There's at least three other threads on glass window replacement tops but this is good info.
