Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently started my 2002 Boxter S (9,000 miles) after not driving it for three days. Upon starting a large plume of white smoke came from the exhaust. Is this a fairly normal condition for engines like this that have the heads laying off to the side of the oil sump? It does not hapen if it has only sat for a day. Anybody else notice this? Thanks, Tim

POST 2Original post

perfectly normal - a side effect of a boxer style engine - just like BMW motorcycles - no worries.
