Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anybody have any advice on wheel bearing exchange. Got a 996 C4S (2004) and think nearside wheel bearing is goost. Where's best place to buy and any recommendations to fit in North West. Cheers,

POST 2Original post

Elvis, although I'm not directly answering your post, just describe the symptons leading you to believe a wheel bearing is "going west" so to speak... Rumbling noises, does it get worse or lessen on cornering? Is there a speed range where the noise is at its loudest? Is the noise source at the front of rear of the car? The only reason I'm asking is because I have a 4S and when the car is warmed up, I get what appears to sound like a wheel bearing noise between 37 and 42 mph, but it doesn't go away when cornering which might suggest it isn't a wheel bearing. The intensity of the noise is dependant on road surface too. I only noticed this noise following fitment of a full set of Pirelli Assims and so I've put it down to tyre noise.... But it may not be :dont know:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Noise is a rumbling noise from front that is noisier when slowing down. It reduces when cornering. Cheers
