My heater bower decided not to work yesterday after working fine with no weird noises or warning of bearing failure/seizure etc. The controls and buttons still function as normal but no blowing sound coming from the vents. Have ordered a beaker part to get me out of trouble for a while but was told there are two types of electrical fitting and the only way to tell which one I have is to drop the thing out. How do I check if its the actual blower that's packed up or something else without a Durametric analyser? How do you get at/remove the blower?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

The fan can stick I had it happen to me, you can access it by removing the cover in the front boot on the passenger side and removing the pollen filter. I gave it a spin by hand and sprayed it with WD40 (you will get the smell in the cabin as a result) and its been fine ever since
The motors are available new from ECP quite cheaply, it's a standard VAG part. Search on this site for the part number.
spin blades thanks will give that a go first to see if it is stuck.
