Has anyone here ever seen 996.1 headlights swapped onto the 996 turbo? I�ve seen 997 headlights swapped over, part of the headlight covered, ect, but am curious if the early 996 headlights have ever been swapped over to a Turbo. I personally like the 996.1 headlights more. That said, it doesn�t make sense as it would probably reduce the value of the car. But, stranger things have been done and maybe it�s out there.
I haven't personally seen anyone do this, but it would be a full face transplant including fenders & front bumper cover to make it work. Can't say for sure everything bolts up from a .1 to a .2 but it's intriguing. I believe some have gone from .1 to .2 look so maybe its possible.
Yeah, I think it�ll work too. I�ve seen a photo of a 986 Boxster with the front end of a 996.2, so it ought to work the other way around. (the 986�s front end is identical to the 996.1) Parts are wildly expensive though, even in the used market. If you ever plan on selling your car, you�ll want to keep the original parts around for value retention. I imagine this would be important on a car like a Turbo.
The 996.2 to Boxster does look good. I found a couple and added them below. I don�t think I�d do the Turbo to 996.1 headlight conversion myself� I like my wallet� but I wonder if one is out there. Would be cool to see!
