Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive ordered a new 'hook' (thats what the parts catalogue calls it) for my car as the one on the car looks like its come from the titanic. It looks like it should just bolt on and off but i thought id just ask on here first. Anyone confirm im not going to destroy anything by changing this? Bonus points if anyone knows what its actually for?

POST 2Original post

Don't know about changing it, but is it some sort of arrester to stop the engine moving forwards in case of a rear end shunt? It would sit just behind the strengthening piece shown on the cross beam in the this photo of my turbo sans engine. MC

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You are correct, its about 2 inches away from that brace. Shunt protection seems a reasonable guess.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
