Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had my 996 for a few days now and love it, apart from the chirrupy squeak that came with it. It sounds like it comes from the rear inside of the car but I cannot seem to locate it Is there a common location for a squeak in these? cheers

POST 2Original post

If you put the rear seat upright sections down does it go away?

POST 3Original post

The rear seat on mine can do that too. Another place that can squeak is the rear section of the centre console especially if the hinge has broken

POST 4Original post

The panel under the rear screen , it pulls forward to remove .. these clips that hold it in place make this sort of noise .

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's the one! Removed it before and noise gone I need to refit as it looks daft without is there anything I can put on clips to prevent the squeak ?

POST 7Original post

Either a spray grease .. not correct but it will do or some felt tape around the plastic parts that go into the metal clips ... either a lubricant or a barrier basically . It can sometimes be the metal clips themselves where they attach to the bodywork .. see if any are loose .. again grease or felt tape . The " official " fix would be teflon tape . Whilst you are at it .. cut some felt tape to size and put it around the rear seat back lock bolt that protrudes from the quarter panel .. these can also knock and its a quick job to stick a bit of tape around them . https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/7031293039?iid=262848248596& This stuff .

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
