Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The wiring diagrams commonly available only show an interior light with one 3 position switch. Does anyone know of a schematic which accurately shows both of the interior switches (the overhead ones in the same cluster as the orientation light)? I have a strange issue that is effecting only the drivers side switch but it's difficult to troubleshoot without a good schematic. It is in p/n 987 632 057 00. Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forum! There are a few things wrong with your question above, making it hard to figure out what you're looking for.. is this a Boxster or a Cayman? They're different, and the wiring is different for them. you say "interior light" - it's not clear which interior light you mean. The overhead ones by the mirrors? The ones in the footwells? the PN you gave above - is for the light assembly - overhead - above the mirror I assume - on a 987 Cayman? Is the switch built into that light, or is it just a light the switch you've asked about controls? I have the following diagram - and it shows some difference between the Cayman and Boxster: On a Boxster - the switches for the overhead and footwell lights are part of the overhead light assembly. I assume on the Cayman - there is a seperate switch assembly? And - when you have a chance, please visit: New Member Introductions and let us know about you and your car. Photos are really welcomed!

Thanks for the super fast response! Sorry, this is for a 2007 Cayman S . The Porsche schematics list the overhead lights (by the rearview mirror) as interior lights. Attached is the pic of the assembly which consists of 2 switches, 2 lights, and the orientation light (led). The diagram that I see in most of the schematics shows more detail about the wiring inside that module but it only shows one switch and one light. Looking at your diagram I see how the Boxster and Cayman can differ. But that diagram doesn't show the inner workings of the switches/light. My problem is that the driver's side light stays on all the time even while driving. It does not turn off when the car is turned off and locked. It will time out and turn off. I think that takes about 2 hours but I haven't actually timed it. And yes, the 3 position rocker switch is in the correct position. Even in what should be the off position the light remains on. The passenger side switch works fine. I think I just need to remove the light/switch module and study it further. And yes, I'll go to the New Member Introductions to introduce myself. I love the site and look forward to contributing to it.

I did finally find a diagram of the 2007 Cayman dome light. For anyone searching for in the future, see the attached file.
