seen lots of cat bypass pipes on flea-bay for between 100-200 quid claiming a much sportier sound and 10-20 bhp increases. They do state that they are not srictlly road legal but seems like a small investment for the sound that I feel mine lacks until its at high revs( I dont have the PSE option). Any advice or experiences?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. If I understand correctly the cat bypass will result in failing an MOT due to emissions regulations - hence the 'legal' bit. I'm sure others will be along to correct me if I am mistaken. Steve
I guess there would be a campaign to evict you from the village with all the noise you will be making Unless you are already "the village idiot" then they might just accept this as normal behavior
I take it this would be a tad noisy then! I dont want it to be like a tank but a sportier note at lower revs would be pleasing any other suggestions without going the PSE route which I think would be rather pricy....
Why not look at a replacement system to get the noise as well as pass the MOT. Try the Porscheshop for deals on parts and fitting. Regards Big Bob :bye:
I am sure this mod can be done DIY You need a capable welder and some pipe that's all And the patience to pull the boxes off(new bolts clamps and gaskets in advance) It allows some of the gas to bypass the muffler. Where are all the welders when you want one? The mod's not for me.I am a lover of peace and tranquillity Lloyds your man!
Have a listen to the cat bypass car on YouTube Not for the faint hearted
i like!!! How can you yearn for peace and tranquility after hearing that? I must just be much, much younger than you :floor: Thanks for all the info! Appreciated
Yer right kick the old guy!
Hey Russ, Did you go ahead with the Cat bypass pipes? I would like to know yours or anyone elses opinions on these as it's something I'm thinking of doing. I already have the stainless manifolds and part-muffler bypass boxes on which sounds really good, but I'm still on the lookout for the ultimate sound that you can get out these motors, not necessarily volume, just a glorious sound. I'm sure it's achievable! Also where did you see them for 100-200 quid? The cheapest I can find are from the states for around 300 quid. I'm sure there must be some chinese manufacturer knocking them out for about a tenner! One last thing, I've heard the cat bypass pipes bring on the check engine light and give a very lumpy idle (though not noticeable on the youtube car!) anyone any thoughts/opinions? Much appreciated, ta!
The flat 6 can never sing a sweet tune such as a V8 or a V6 it is just not possible.leave it alone and fit an induction kit to add a nice intake roar Cat Bypass and muffler bypasses just sound like you've got a hole in your boxes. Just my non debatable,no room for disscusion set in stone,a little older than the young guy, opinion!
