Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Thanks, I have just bought a mint 996 C4S, looking forward to getting involved. I have bought the cold air kit from Design911 with the pipe, jubilees and the plug. It seems like a good mod! Arriving tomorrow. I have read all about it on the forums so not going to ask obvious questions but have one question please.... There is the cap to put in the hole on the top of the airbox. I understand the resonator is below this, the question I have is that do I open up the airbox and remove the little resonator thing from the inside? Or do I just plug it from the top and leave the insides alone? Any benefits/cons of either method? Also while Im here, do I need an aftermarket panel?! Again, have done a lot of searches and read conflicting things. Thank you in advance, James

POST 2Original post

You remove it as the box covers about a 3rd of the air filter and restricts air-flow. No after market panel needed.
