Hello, I know his might have been asked. I have searched but could not find exact answers. If I want to install a Avic, or any other aftermarket navi I need, The unit, face plate weather it is custom made or the Japanese one, an antenna adaptor. I know that stuff, but what is all this about the canbus? I have a cdr24 with the upgraded sound, not the bose. So I know I wont have to re wire the speakers, but what does the canbus do? Would I plug the radio into that, or wire the radio like many other cars to the harness, and the canbus does something else? I see it helps with siggnals ot the car. If you dont have it the car will not function properly?

I read that all and am now somewhat more confused. I have a better idea for a few things. I guess I will spend all day at work trying to figure this out.

best bet.. is to get a professional installer...while you might be able to do it, why risk damaging something yourself...the canbus btw is used to pass the signal for things like speed pulls and dimming the screen...you probably want it, but its not absolutely necessary.... avic d3's are great, i have one myself, you might consider waiting though...just heard about this new device which sounds awesome Azentek - In-Vehicle PC - Atlas CPC-1000
