Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Is this possible? I have searched various forums and understand that, as general rules: 1. It is hard, but not impossible, to install a DFI engine into an EFI car (ie 3.8DFI into a 987.1) 2. When making an engine swap, try to match generations 997.1 - 987.1; 997.2 - 987.2 . BUT: I can't find the definitive answer on whether I could install an MA103 engine in to a 987.2 with a minimum of fuss. Any advice would be gratefully received.

POST 2Original post

Define minimum fuss. The biggest issue you will face is that the ECUs are not compatible. So you will have to find a way to integrate the newer ECU into the older wiring harness.

POST 3Original post

Many thanks. Am I correct to understand that the MA101 ECU will require a flash anyway? If that is the case, how much more work is required to integrate the MA103 ECU into the existing 987.2 harness? Does it require as much work as placing a DFI engine into. 987.1 series car?
