Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Porsche's with boxer engines have always put out some blue smoke on cold start. I have worked in the showroom of a dealer for years and when we start them up we get the blue smoke. It is the same for 911's, Boxsters and Caymans. Nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on your oil level, that is what you see up in smoke. Tom Siegel Porsche of Santa Barbara
They get blue smoke if they sit for a while, allowing the small oil buildup in the rings to drain to the bottom (sides) of the cylinders. But it should just be a cloud and then no more. Its the nature of the beast.
seems ok mine does this also.

It's a good thing you guys covered this. I went to the track this Wednesday and apparently you have to let the engine idle for about 5 minutes after a hard run to keep it from smoking on the next start up. I noticed this morning there was quite a bit of smoke in my garage as well but even the dealer said it was normal and was not a result of the track day.
I got the same thing after being at the track. I don't think I let it sit 5 min after runs. But I got a lot of smoke and it scared me. I also had to put to quarts of oil in after running. Of course I did drive over 1000 miles this weekend.
Two quarts of oil after 1000 miles seems like too much. Get it checked out. Shane
was just out at Mid Ohio Raceway- same thing with the blue smoke... my buddy's croc smoked more than mine but an old wrench explained about small amounts of oil sitting in the flat six ....dont worry. BTW its a lot of fun on the track!
another techie said that oil should not be filled to the very top, but one or two levels down, but still above the mid point is ideal.
I have the same thing. First I panic, then I searched 'smoke' on Caymanclub.net/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thanks.gif
I have been noticing this lately too. I start the engine and all looks good, and then 10 seconds later I see quite a bit of smoke out the back. I am not sure if it is blue. Looks white like steam but hangs around where steam dissapears. It is very noticiable at night in the tail lights. After another 30 seconds the smoke stops. I have had it happen when the engine was warm (at a track day) and also when starting cold.
My smoke emission seems a bit different than the others on here. If my car sits for a few days to a week and I start it, I get no smoke at all. Then, if I drive it for an hour or 2, park for a few hours, and then start it, I get the puff of smoke. I am assuming it's normal, and it has only happened twice in the first 2000 miles.
