Hi guys My Sprint Booster has arrived for my 996 turbo, but being a dinosaur I can't see where to fit it. Do I take the pedal apart as I've looked right up under the dash and can't see the connector point anywhere. In fact I thought these cars were drive by wire, but I can clearly see a metal cable on a pivot about 18 inches up from the pedal. Sorry if I sound a bit dopey, but I normally go straight to utube, but there aren't any videos for the 996.😩

It's literally a 5 minute job when you see what you need to do. Unfortunately I did mine about 5 years ago so can't remember the pitfalls or obstacles. It's well worth doing though and completely changes how the car feels and drives imo. This should help https://www.pelicanparts.com/techar...Installing_the_Sprint_Accelerator_Booster.htm
Thanks Jamie Mine is a 2004 model, I think I may have the revised configuration. I'm going out to take some photos and see if anyone can help me.
You need to follow the cable( looks like a push bike brake cable) from the pedal and at the other end of the cable up behind the dash you'll find the throttle position sensor, this has a connector on a short piece of wiring loom!
Thanks for your advice guys, I've finally done it. Now to hang off the door frame to stretch and straighten the curvature in my spine !!! I can see now why most mechanics are slim chaps, I'm a bit to stocky for that job. Would have taken step by step photos, but I was that uncomfortable and claustrophobic, I couldn't wait to escape. Took it for a spin and it really makes the whole car feel more responsive. Because of this the gearbox feels much more alive and modern. After finding the gearbox very lethargic before, especially compared to the dsg in my R32. I will take the car over Dartmoor this afternoon and work out the best settings. Will report back later with the results and if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.
Excellent- easy when you know how isn't it? Just a heads up for you Simon, not sure if you are aware but don't change the settings while you're driving, pull over and stop. I must admit I have done it myself a couple of times and doesn't seem to have affected the car but apparently you aren't supposed to - I'm assuming it could mess the calibration of the tps or something.
...great timing! I took my 996 3.6 Tip' with AMG Paddle conversion over Dartmoor today...live in Tavistock...I am about to order a v3 Sprintbooster thus really interested in your thoughts ?
Me too in a 996T Tip! Is it really worth the £190? :dont know:
...saw a lovely red Testarossa ... I am happy to spend the £190 if it improves the driving experience? Thoughts Simon?
I came from an R32 into a Cayman S with 'SC', now in a 986, the dead throttle response does detract in my view. Have been thinking about doing this, let us know how you get on. Do you snap up the one on the classifieds?
As many have said it transforms the throttle response copying a cable driven accelerator. It is especially beneficial on a tip box. Turning it off now & again reminds you how poor the fly by wire configuration is As mentioned on my post previously had I fitted this first I may not have gone to the considerable expense investing in a paddle shift on by C4S 996 Tip.
Haha I must admit the combo of the paddles and the sprintbooster was fantastic at first, but same as you - I wouldn't have bothered with the paddles if I'd fitted the SB as I very rarely use them now.
