Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Another question. Would it be smarter to wait and get an '09 when prices are lower so I can get PDK?

POST 3Original post

Tip vs. PDK would be a deal breaker for me. Can't really comment on the price but miles are low so, best of luck. - RB.

POST 4Original post

Yes. Absolutely if you want an automatic you must get an 09. Not only is PDK massively better but the 09 is much better than the 08 in lots of other ways. With a manual it's not quite such a big deal to go for the .2 but automatic yes it is.

POST 5Original post

I disagree. I have a 2007 911 Tiptronic and find its performance easier to live with than the PDK. With a PDK Boxster recently, I experienced a power surge after a right turn as the PDK guessed that I wanted to really "step on it". Wrong! I was entering a parking lot. Good thing my reflexes are good. I could have killed someone! Another thing with PDK-when you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and inching along, the PDK will drive you crazy-it keeps going back and forth between upshifts and downshifts, resulting in jerkiness-I found this maddening! So, even though the shifts are fast and the mpg is improved with PDK, I prefer the Tiptronic for its smooth predictible shifts-never any surprises. PDK has the potential to be wonderful. There are some kinks that need to be worked out, though. The price of the car seems high to me.

POST 6Original post

Sorry, but the PDK is smooth as butter. I have it on my 2011 Boxster Spyder and it behaves extremely well. I drive it daily to work ( 70 miles round trip). The PDK is not like the BMW SMG that is jerky with an all on or all off feeling. The only issue I have had with it is when in Sport Mode at extremely slow traffic ( sub 7 MPH ) the car stutters, ie its like the car is starved for gas, so at those speeds I keep it in normal mode. That happened to me twice early on in my ownership ( like the first 300 miles ) while I was playing around with all the settings. I believe that has to do with the throttle programming in Sport and Sport Plus, they are very agressive so as you let off, the gas is cut off rapidly and the slight hold on the pedal leaves the car confused as to how much gas to let go. In normal mode this does not happen at all since the programming is much more lenient and there is even a delay in throttle response if you depress slowly or partially which really helps in very slow traffic.

POST 7Original post

it's a good price but it's not too far from an 09.. just get an '09.. could be higher mileage than that but its a newer car, and you prob wont take a bigger hit..

POST 8Original post

thanks everyone. I bought the car but paid alot less than asking price. I loved the color combination(ruby red metallic/beige interior) and can't afford the '09 prices. Since I am coming from owing a Lexus I don't know any different. My previous car had 215 HP so this seems more than enough HP for me (I am a chick if that matters). I am loving how it drives so far.

POST 10Original post

Here she is. I am having alot of fun with her. She's keeping our Audi S4 company in the garage! It's my first Porsche and I am addicted.

POST 11Original post

A nice car, but several months ago I paid just under $50k for a 2007 base Carrera with 16k miles-full leather, power seats, Tiptronic, xenons, 19" Carrera S wheels, etc; with a CPO warranty thrown in for free....and I ain't that good lookin'. I don't know what you paid (I wouldn't have gone over $55k for a 2008), but the asking price was way out of line, IMO. Enjoy the car. Great color!

POST 12Original post

Great looking 911. Unless you are tracking the car step is fine. I have driven both PDK, step and manual's in the 911 and Caymans. Honestly? I would still go manual unless I had to drive in stop and go traffic every day. Even then, it would be a hard sell. Porsches have the smoothest clutch of any car I have driven. Seems a shame to get rid of it with PDK. Plus, most car thieves are idiots and can't drive a stick LOL

POST 13Original post

hold out for the PDK IMO...plus 66k for a 4 year old base model does seem high to me...

POST 14Original post

You better drive the PDK rather than purchasing it blind. I wasn't happy with it. The shifts sometimes were unpredictable and in crawling bumper to bumper traffic, the PDK kept shifting rapidly between upshifting and downshifting, which caused the car to mildly jerk back and forth. I would rather take the mpg hit and drive a true automatic transmission if it was available, which unfortunately for the 2009 and later 911, is not. I have the 5 speed tiptronic in my 2007 911 and it functions perfectly.
