Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

did porsche make these 18 inch turbo twist 2 wheels for 996 narrow body? could they be oem? i dont remember seeing them before except for aftermarket. thanks....jeff

POST 2Original post

I had those turbo twists on my 2001 C4, so yes.

POST 5Original post

In 7.5", 8", 8.5", 9", 10", 11", and 12" Even on Boxsters... http://www.wheelenhancement.com/inde...elDetail&id=42

POST 8Original post

I read somewhere on this board recently that they are not, in fact, hollow. It's a look thing. They're actually quite heavy. The writer quoted weights, which made me think that he knew whereof he spoke. FWIW.

POST 9Original post

i have hollow turbo twist 1s, and also 17" boxster wheels, the TT1s weigh about half of the boxster wheels, pretty amazing... also makes it easy to lug up and down stairs!

POST 10Original post

Are you referring to non-turbo 996s? I believe for the 996tt it was hollow. As with the hollow turbo twist I (993tt), are the backs of the spokes of the hollow turbo twist II (996tt) "smooth" also?

POST 11Original post

Yup, referring only to the non-turbos. My understanding also is that the 996tt has hollow wheels.

POST 12Original post

The regular Carrara had a Turbo-look wheel option there were non-hollow wheels. The early first year (2001) 996 turbos had solid/non-hollow wheels. They switched to hollow spokes about the same time the removed the bumperettes from the front bumpers. Spotting the non-hollow wheels was easy on these cars. The hollow spoke wheels had metal valve stems while they were black rubber on the non-hollow wheels. You can also tell by feeling the back of the spokes. Hollow wheels will be smooth, non-hollows have groves cut in the back side of the spokes.

POST 13Original post

Turbo twists were standard in the C4S ('04). Anyone know if they were hollow as in the 996tt, or solid?

POST 17Original post

I have hollow spoke turbo wheels (993 part#)... noticeable difference when I have them on vs the winter 17s (boxster twists)

POST 18Original post

Yes, as I understand it quite a bit, > 5 lbs a wheel.

POST 19Original post

Yes the hollow spokes are about five lbs lighter. C4Ss in the states are solid spokes. My brother's MY01 996TT came w/hollow spokes, I know because he munched one the other night driving on a flat tire and I'm trying to find a replacement for him.
