A couple of times I thought I saw (or heard) but was unable to recreate a fluctuation in RPM when driving with a steady throttle. I have now found that if the car is not yet warmed-up at about 37mph in Fourth & about 1500rpm on a level piece of road and holding a steady speed (& throttle) the rpm will rise and fall by about 100 rpm. It does this repeatedly alternating up and down 100 rpm at about 1 second intervals. My initial thought was accelerator pedal potentiometers or some such but once warmed up I cannot provoke the behavior. Anyone heard of this before or have any ideas where to start? Thanks,

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't worry about it, the car is merely loading then unloading slightly due to small throttle application. Mine does this from time to time when the circumstances are that it is under very light load. Just nudge the tip button down and change down as if you were in a manual. Think about it - 37mph in fourth gear? Would you drive a manual like that if it had the super long fourth gear that the 996T tip has, being good for over 160 mph? This is not criticising your driving, by the way, just throwing the thought out to you. Mike.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the thought. And its good to hear mine is not the only one to do this. It just seems odd to me that I've not noticed it before. But reassured, Thanks again, Steve
