I can still add them until Monday. What is the word from the experts?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bi-Xenons are a must and you would really appreciate at this time of the year in the Northern hemisphere. It is too bad that they are an option, but this is why Porsche has been profitable. As Porsche says; There is no substitute.
Go here for a discussion. For me and my location they are a must have. http://www.planet-9.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=340&FORUM_ID=1&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Bi%2DXenon+vs%2E+Halogens+headlights&Forum_Title=Cayman+Chat
I love them on a car I'm in, and hate them on oncoming cars as they are so bright and annoying. I wanted to order them but my salesman insisted that in South Florida and other metropolitan areas there is currently a theft epedemic. He basicaly told me that if the car is parked outdoors at night for a period of time it will eventually be damaged by someone trying to get at the lamps. I reluctantly opted out given that in a well lit urban environment, the benefits would be outweighed by the aggrevation of having them stolen.
Is this still a problem with the new style lamp? I hope they are not as easily stolen as the fried egg lamps.
Sorry, Forgot to mention that I drove the Cayman on a dark, wet foggy November Irish night with Bi-Xenons and they were pretty good!
Arc-lamps...Xenons...should be standard. I can't comment on theft (where on earth do those with a theft problem live!), however the difference in illumination and the resulting safety is dramatic. The big problem is...why doesn't Porsche have curve following lights like the other German and many of the Japanese manufacturers?
Itz true, the Xenons are still an item thieves target for. If your car is targeted, expect a crowbar to be used and the result of the front fascia and lights to be heavily damaged. And with the Headlight washers (chrome ones on the Cayman, and simliar washers for other makes that exclusively have the Bi-Xenons) very visible, it only invites them to steal them. Go aftermarket if you want them. Those Adaptive Front lighting system is currently just a luxury item. Like all car gadgets, the luxury cars would have them first, then spread down to economy/performance cars. So, you might need to wait a few more years.
Xenons were one ofonly a few 'must haves' on my list. Once you try them, you never look back. They are also one of the most highly rated options to have at resale.......if that matters at all.
Well I am begining to think this will be my practice car, apparently I didn't get many of the options I now feel are important. I am now going more toward just leasing this car on2 or 3 year lease and then I will know exactly what I want next time. When I oredered my car I was uninformed and thought in terms of appearance only. This being my first Porsche in 25 years will make it very special no matter what. Russ
What an honest post. Bucks Co. Pennsylvania is full of deer, dark roads, and beauty. So lighting, heated seats, sports chrono, self dimming mirrors are important. Since my inlaws moved to Honolulu a year ago, the great looking women there may require you to get the xenons too! Enjoy.
Thanks SmileDoc, You just could be right about those lights! This is a great place to live, and yes there are some beautiful women here. This is a melting pot of races and you get some extraordinarily beautiful Asian mixwomen. I came from California where it was all blond and blue eyes, and ended up marrying a Okinawan woman. What a life! /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/beer2.gif Aloha Russ
Where do you guys park? I'm always in a lot or the NY/NJ burbs, and haven't had any problem since a radar detector was stolen 17 years ago. </blockquote>
My dear also likes heated seats ... /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/beer1.gif
Xenon is a must if you do any driving outside of the city at night. As someone else said, once you have tried it you can't turn back.
David NJ We lived in Ramsey last year and our neighbors Mini Cooper parked in their driveway had the xenons professionally removed at 3 AM never to be seen again.
I live in Miami, and the theft of xenon lamps is not limited to any given model car. It is refered to as an epidemic by many dealers that would otherwise make money selling them as an option, and yet they often bring up the downside of a potentially damaged car given enough time. Are they a plus? Yes. Is this plus, in a location that is well lit and the theft issue is high worth the downside of worrying about my car being damaged and the aggravation? Not for me.
I think as someone else said there are very practicalfor the driver, but I sure don't like em when they are coming at me. I had them on my BMW and I will agree that they give a real boost to night vision. I didn't get them this time but now I wish I did. I will probably look for after market Xenons now. I wonder if they will cost more than factory? Anyone know? Russ
So far I don't notice that they bother me from oncoming cars. I ordered them for the extra lighting ability as I drive alot of under/no light desert roads and hope that they will be brighter than what is standard on most cars. I saw the only other option would be Hella/PIAA driving lights and couldn't see ruining a perfect auto going that route yet....
