I've noticed that the Newcastle OPC can retrofit cruise to 996 and 997 911's for £399 inc. VAT. It's the only option I miss, particularly with the myriad of roadworks up this way. That seems like a fair deal plus I assume as it's OPC fitted it'll not affect the warranty. Anyone found a better deal?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Price looks ok. I do not expect them to do it for nothing and it should not affect the warranty Theo
Wrightune in the South offer: Cruise Control and OBC: 996 C2 (2000-2001) - £470 996 C4 (1999-2001) - £470 996 C2 & C4 (2002-2004) - £350 These are ex VAT so the OPC appear to be offering a good price
Not something that I would go for personally. I had it in my Audi TT and hardly ever used it. I never knew where to put my feet :dont know:
DOUBLE-CHECK that the OPC is offering it on the 996. They have never done it in the past. Retrofit cruise is offered on 987 and 997 models by OPCs.
Really? On MY03 onwards (where the throttle linkage is electronic and everything is connected through the MOST bus) it shouldn't be much more than an extra stalk and a configuration update on the ECU... ???
I'm only saying that OPCs have NEVER offered this as a retrofit on 9x6 cars. I'm not saying it can't be done, as I have done it more than once myself.
The bumf quotes the Boxster (987), Cayman and 911 (Type 996 and 997 models) for a fixed price of £399 (inc. VAT). I've rung and they've confirmed the price and that the 996 is definitely included. Very tempting...
I was in the OPC two weeks ago and they gave me a leaflet about cruise control for £399 which included the 996.
Well in the past I know that OPCs have told people that it is impossible to do on a 996. (When we know it isn't). It ain't in the manual, so it can't be done, whereas it IS in the manual for the 987/997, so it can. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has actually had it done by an OPC.
I guess this includes the OBC enabling aswell? The four stalk is supposedly cheaper than three stalk.
Very useful piece of kit when average speed cameras about, use it all the time then.
I would use it just to try & keep my speed down
Cruise was the only thing my 2006 997 C2 tip. did not have when I got it second hand with 11,000 miles on. I was a total Porsche newbie & took it to Porsche Hatfield who said they would fit it for £525. I got it done and when I went to pick it up was asked "How much were you quoted?". The bill was:- P997.044.903.00 Cruise Control Kit - £276.22 Supply and fit - £148.50 Total with VAT: £499.05 They were great - took me out for a drive and showed me how to use it (I would recommend this to anyone who has it done) - and answered a whole pile of other questions I had about the car and sat nav. I'm sure all the wiring is already in the loom, etc and that it's not that big a job? I had to wait a few days 'till they got the part in stock before it could be installed. It brings up a green light on the instrument panel when it is selected on - actually the light is on whether the cruise control is actually engaged and controlling the car or not - which is not that clever - but it does what it says on the tin and the extra lever you get on the right hand side of the steering column lets you blip it up or down in 1 mph increments, engage it or disengage it and turn it off and on. I live in town and would be lost without it - really useful when speed limit goes from 30 to 40 and back to 40 and then to 50 and then ....... But I may be a bit strange - my car also has a rear windscreen wiper (which some people take off) - and I'd be lost without that too - use it all the time in the Winter to see who's behind me and when parking the car.
This strikes me as being a really good add on, and another reason why forums are useful, question now is do i fit it or wait till i trade the whole thing in for a 997 as I doubt it would add to the trade in value :?:
