Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm interested in looking into this. What do those who collect recommend in terms of size and manufacturere and sources to buy?

POST 2Original post

Basically, the 1:18 scale is the better size for collection. As far as manufacturer, it just depends on level of detail. You can get them as cheap as $15 and as pricey as $200+!!!

POST 3Original post

Most of mine are 1:18 as Dell says, but I also look for exclusive or rare Porsche models in any scale. Revell made limited edition runs in the 70s through to the 90s. These are usually quite expensive, but worth picking up. Minichamps are always worth a look and if you can purchase kits like "Provence Moulage" and have them made up by a professional modeller into something special "Porsche" then even better. Ciao, Adrian.

POST 4Original post

Ditto on Dell's comments. I just posted last week (cant figure out how to cut-and-paste an old thread), a topic called "a new home for my diecast PORSCHE's) I only buy the 1:18 scale. Think they look the most realistic and proportional. I like AutoArt, they are well made, heavy and offer LOTS of great choices. You can spend as little as $40 - 50 bucks on them or up to $250 on ones such as a Limited Edition Jagermeister GT2. Here is one of my favorites, I think you all will agree

POST 5Original post

I agree, go with the 1/18 scale. Ebay is a good source for them. I own over 300 1/18 scale models.

POST 6Original post

I also agree, the 1/18th scale is the way to go. Ebay is a great source as RaceCarDriver said. I have about 130 of them and about half of them are 1/18th. The rest are a mix of all the rest of the sizes. Some were gifts, others were rare things I found here and there. I did find a couple kinda cool ones recently. They were 1/24th 924 Carrera GTs. One has all the Boss sponsored logos on it and the other is the non race version. I found them at a Toy Store Auction.

POST 7Original post

Wouldn't a more appropriate number for that car be 69?

POST 8Original post

I got several of the 1:18 scale models from Exoto. Not the cheapest, but the quality and attention to detail is excellent. I also collect the 1:43 scale models from Minichamps.

POST 9Original post

Ditto! Exoto has lots of really nice but expensive cars. Very high-end P cars!!

POST 10Original post

I collect 1:43 Minichamps and various 1:18 scaled models. The Minichamp and Autoart models in 1:18 are exceptional in detail. The 1:18 fit better on shelves, while the 1:43 look attractive on your desk at work.

POST 11Original post

I would consider Exoto, Minichamps and Auto Art in that order. All make some very nice realistic 1/18 scale cars. Ebay is the place for me, if you spend the time, there are bargans out there.
