I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced what I did this past weekend. I had been driving my Cayman daily from the time I took delivery on March 1. Then after driving to a friends house, I was getting ready to leave and the car wouldn't start, couldn't get the key out, etc. It didn't have any electrical power. After reading the owners manual and getting the hood open, we put a battery charger on it in an attempt to get it started without any luck, but we noticed that the charger kept going from charging to charged and vice versa, indicatin the battery was fine. After looking closer at the battery I bumped the ground wire that goes from the battery to the frame and everything came to life. Upon further inspection I discovered the bolt holiding the ground wire to the frame was loose. I was stunned and disappointed, this happened not just on any brand new car, but a Porsche. The thing I saw is that there is not a lock washer on that bolt, so I'm concerned it may work itself loose again. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Could this have just been an oversight on the part of the dealer?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Actually this is addressed in a Porsche Technical Service Bulletin; "breakdown due to a loose ground strap." It seems there was an oversight in production process on some cars. - Suneet
