Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

i have 2003 996 cab looking to chip it out can anyone help me with advise to choose one

POST 2Original post

None. Your money is better spent on something else for your car.

POST 4Original post

Agreed - for $1000 you can get a far bigger bang for your buck.

POST 6Original post

The M9603 engine does not respond to simple chipping. You will waste your money. The M9601 engine of the pre-02 996 will respond to a good chip, exhaust, etc.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

THANKS WILL SAVE MY MONEY WHAT IS TOP SPEED FOR 03 996 CAB THATS REASON WHY WANTED TO REMOVE THE LIMTER

POST 8Original post

There is no limiter. ....and what in the world are you doing bumping a thread just 2 hours after the first response. Not sure what goes on in your head jersey but man, your etiquette has just stunk around here. Maybe English isn't your first language, maybe you are a New Yorker , or maybe your CAPS LOCK key is broken. btw, the NY thing was a joke.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

SORRY DUDE . SO THE CAR HAS NO LIMITER FROM FACTORY

POST 12Original post

chpping w mods won't improve output huh? why so when pre-facelist gets a bump in HP and not 3.6L? can someone elaborate? is it variocam + or DME optimization done on 3.6L?

POST 13Original post

There are not huge gains to be made in hp with the 3.4L motors. You simply cannot expect GM type of hp bumps with simple chips and exhaust. The M96 01 motor can be tuned to be more driveable and have a modest hp increase. I don't have the details of why the M96 01 motor can be better tuned and not the M96 03. I've done some research with trusted U.S. Porsche shops. Steve Weiner and has been invaluable in this regard.
