Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here is what the dealer is offering on the 2012 Carrera S (997.2) with these options: Ventilated Seats (Front), Heated Steering Wheel, SiriusXM(TM) Sat Radio Tuner, BOSE(R) Surround Sound System, Extend Navigation Mod-PCM 3.0 , Infotainment Package, Heated Seats (Front), Self Dimming Mirrors, Comfort seat (right / left), 12-Way Power Seats, 19" Carrera Classic Wheel Sport Chrono Package Plus , ParkAssist System (Rear), Comfort Package Car was punched in on 12/1/2011 MSRP: 101,435 Dealer offering 15,000 Off Is it a good deal if I get it at 81,435?? Lease for a 3 year, 10,000 miles per year Sell Price: 86,435, Residual: 54,500, mf - 0.0026; Monthly #1277 + 8.75% tax The residual looks fairly low to me. The mf translates to over 6% which seems high in this economy. Comments / Suggestions ??

POST 2Original post

You shouldn't be basing your decision on leasing vs. buying by price and/or monthly payment.

POST 3Original post

81,435 for the car you listed sounds like an incredible deal. Good luck with your decision!

POST 4Original post

Either option looks good to me. They are very close in terms. I personally always like the lease option b/c it gives you the flexibility to buy it at the end or give it back. I usually pay up for this optionality. The residual does look low on the lease so you can either buy it off in the end with cash or finance it. I like the lease option the best. But, either option looks good in this instance. Cant go wrong. Let us know what you decide to do.

Buy the car at 81.5k it is an incredible deal. For the price of a Boxster S you are getting a 911S. If you can get a loan at 6% or less then I think you are a little ahead with buying as the 5k off helps with the sales tax, assuming you would keep the car. Buy the car if you are going to keep it for a long time otherwise lease it. If you are going to lease then you want to ask to bring the residual value higher to bring the monthly payment down, but make sure the mf stay the same and return the car when the term is up.

This is my first porsche and because of my poor back, my only fear is the ease of getting in and out. That is the only reason, I am tempted to lease. At the same time, at $81.5, a buy may be ok since I am assuming that I should be able to sell the car around the 3-year period (only if I have to) with the 30k miles around the $60-65k range. Thx for the honest opinions. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer.
