Hello folks, I'm trying to help a friend of an friend (yep, one of those deals...) to sell her 2001 996Convertible and need some help to fiqure out what is it worth? I searched a little but didn't come up with real clear answer I need to ask. 2001 996 Convertible, tiptronic. 70k miles, one owner car, silver exterior dark blue top & interior. Some issues: it's been owner by a non enthusiast and you can see it, little scrathes on the center console and dor sill. Curb rash on 3 wheels, schratch on the front bumber (4" long) and some "cracking" on paint on the f. bumper. Rear bumper has a little "ding". Top looks good. Engine dirty (dusty) on top and little oil on the bottom (between the enine & tranny so I'm thinking RMS). Always maintained by dealer and recently had new tyres. Brakes look ok. Car drives nicely for an 996 (I don't have much experience on "regular" 996s, only some GT3 & turbo experience, and a lot from older 911s) and I think is a car that's been clearly driven by a non enthusiast but someone who had it serviced etc. What do you guys think? Blue book says $35k for a good sample which this can be after a goood detailing or $30k for poor example. If I'd recommend this t someone I know, what would be the price & if you'd sell this to just some "averag Joe" (non Porsche enthusiast), what would the price then be? Thank you very much in advance, any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to help a fellow Rennlister, that's really helpful.
I can say that in S. Flofida similar cars are near 40k or above depending on the condition.
You will have to excuse DallasBoats, he got the wrong oil in his car once and has never been the same I have been out of the market for a while so I can't help but since you are a fellow Fiat Freak I thought I would jump in. You will get more helpful and unhelpful responses by Monday morning. This board is much lighter than the other boards on RL I visit. Good luck.
Considering the mileage and evidence of some carelessness (scratches and curb rash), 30 to 35 seems like the right range.
Finn, I have had my car appraised by 3 different wholesalers. My car is a little better shape interior wise, not 'like new' by any means just well aged. However, I have no body damage. It's a 2000 c2 cab (tip), very well optioned, with 49k miles. I saw wholesale figures comeback between 18, 25, and 28k, I kid you not. If trade in is anywhere near that and people are letting them go that cheap, you may have to think even sub 30's for a quick sale. Like BlackCab said, I would shoot 33 to 35k for a feeler. Good luck, RB
how much do you think a 03 996 cab 50 k on the dot with factory sport kit
sal4, Steven, BlackCab, RB, Thanks a lot for the info. I was thinking around that range ($30-35k) but friend of mine is thinking of buying it (offering $28k) and I'm thinking she should rather get one that's bee taken care of really well rather than buying this and fixing it so it's in tip top condition. Thanks again!
