Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

On your existing control unit there should be some numbers starting with 996 ... This will be the Porsche part number you can search for . look at the image here to see the type of numbers you should see .. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-...697163&hash=item2a9ccd1f41:g:kv0AAOSwo4pYW5Pv
I have one of my xenon/litronic headlights playing up and after a lot of research I ordered a new ballast using the part number. There was a useful seller who had summarized which ballasts were the same apart from the part number (which seemed to be dealer specific). I got mine for £35 although being stuck in the ME have not yet fitted it. If you are happy without a Porsche number on it I would look into it further to find one. I still have the link although there are no items left. The part number I bought was 5DV-007-760-37 and was for a 2004 996 GT3 so is likely to be the same as yours. It was a new part. Pip Ps here is one that is most proabably the same with just a different part number on it as it has a BMW stamp. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A6-...136449?hash=item2f39707dc1:g:3M4AAOSwAGhdzXsF
