If you could buy one and only one Porsche from the current model line up and money was not a concern what would it be?

POST 2Original post

Can you include the upcoming 997TT? That is what I would really get.

Interesting thread. This year I want to be in the Cayman S since it is new, different and allegedly the most driver oriented car in the line. In the future I might go with a C4S. However, no matter how much money I have I always like to get full value from every dollar I spend and I don't know if the C4S will be $28,000 more fun than the Cayman S spec'ed out the way I ordered mine. More power will be nice but I don't know if I will be willing to give up the 987 handling for the 997's power. A Carrera owner on another board got a Boxster for a loaner car and commented how it handled like a slot car. I might be more inclined to send my Cayman to RUF than buy a 997 C4S or Turbo. Talk to me in the summer after I have put some miles on my car since this is all speculation now. Today, regadless of money, the Cayman S is my #1 choice. Alan

Gang, I have to admit that this poll is really more tonge-in-cheek as I'd assume that the Cayman S would be the most popular car on this site. I didn't add the Carrera GT because it is so much higher priced, who wouldn't take a free one over the other cars, even if just to resell? I didn't add the turbo because it isn't currently offered. At some point we'll have to do a press release that says something like 'Cayman preferred more than 2:1 over all other Porsches' or something like that... /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif

As someone who has owned two 911's several years ago, this is the first car that has really brought me back to the brand. Back at the dealer and noticing the improvements to the 911 I can see where the 911 is a viable upgrade - with sunroof, backseats, more power, etc. But it still is not what has me looking at porsche again - this Cayman is the car to reenergize the brand - much as the boxter did when it first appeared.

POST 8Original post

When I voted the Cayman was neck and neck with the C4S. I also assume the Cayman will be the most popular car but wonder how many people here are buying one because they want but can't afford a Carrera S or C4S.

POST 10Original post

That would be me. I saw a Black/Tan 997C2S Cabriolet and fell in love, but it must be noted that I nothing to compare anything to as not having driven a Porsche in over 25 years. Russ

Cayman S is romping it at the moment with 51% of the vote (C4S 23%). Of that list, the only one I would also consider is the C4S. I'm not in the market for a Cayenne, I've driven the Boxster (987)S, 997 and 997S and would pick the Cayman over these. I think I may get on better with the C4S because of its additional weight over the nose versus the 997S, which I imagine would add some more weight to the steering. As it stands, the 997S's steering feel is nowhere near as confidence-inspiring as that of the Cayman S.

POST 12Original post

Cayman first then the new C4S is definately my 2nd choice. But the driving experience of the boxster is so much better I couldn't justify the extra expense. My wife wants me to buy the C4S.

POST 13Original post

The only other Porsche I would consider is a new GT3 with the DSG transmission. With the DSG I could trundle along on the weekends w/ the wife and still retain a competent track set up when needed. Right now the GT3 doesn't offer enough flexibility for my needs.

Since money is no object... Carrera GT all day long. Stunningly beautiful, sounds like nothing else and I rarely see them (and that's saying something here in Orange County where it seems like every other person owns a 911 to go along with their BMW X5
