Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, Can I ask you to take a look at these pictures? Boxster 987 roof. Seemingly works OK, roof fits within the side rails, but.. in my car there is a cord on both sides that is not connected to anywhere. It end is a small plastic cap and does not seem broken. From the internet sources I think this small piece of cord should be guided through two small elastic loops and somehow attached to a piece of fabric with a plastic cord inside which runs at the edge of the inner liner maybe. Could you check what's wrong with my roof, what should I do, how important it is that these cords are connected, etc.? Thank you.

POST 2Original post

It looks like the tension rope, as you indicated, going across (and inside) the liner but not 100% sure - did you purchase this used or had it since new? I would check the liner inside the car (and see if anything is sagging). You may be able to get some insights here - Outstanding Tech Contribution! - 987 Boxster - Roof... Or wait for Don to reply

Thanks. It's not the long tension cord (plead cord) that connects the two sides of the roof, that's a bit higher up. And not the famous elastic, it's a bit downwards. Maybe somebody could take a picture of the same spot of his/her car?
