Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

:coat: obviously everyone else knew that there were two cup holders in the dash!........ taken me a month to figure that out! anything else very obvious and hidden that i should have figured out yet! toohey

POST 2Original post

there's a big thread on this. That's how I discovered the double cupholder trick!

POST 4Original post

Not in mk1 gt3's there isn't But you can buy ones that clip into the air vents on the sides.

POST 5Original post

That's only on facelift cars btw. :thumb: However, if you have a pre-facelift without large carbon pack, you should find some holes near the face level vents, where you can clip on the folding cup-holders that should be in a door pocket somewhere.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 9Original post

secret menu on the climate........?? pray spill the beans

POST 10Original post

Check out the 996 Forum thread "engine temp!", page two

POST 11Original post

Here is text (couldn't "Cut, Copy and Paste" from iPhone ... until 3.0!):

POST 12Original post

Has anyone had any success in reading the oil temperature through the climate control? I don't think you can read oil temp through the CAN bus, which I assume the CC panel is reading. On the subject of 'things you never knew' who else has found the switch for the overhead LED on facelift interior light panels. It switches the LED from "worse than useless" to "just plain useless".

POST 13Original post

Only works on early 3.4 996's which were pre-CAN Bus

POST 14Original post

3.4 Tips have CAN communication between DME and Tip module. The "original" Climate Diagnostics article was posted on an Audi forum - the CC unit is made by Audi (or their subcontractor). http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int6.shtml This doesn't mention Oil Temperature. I don't know the source of the list that Paul posted above, but I don't believe you can read oil temp through the climate diagnostics. I would be pleased to be proved wrong though, as it would be a nice to be able to see the temperature, rather than guess when it's warm.

POST 15Original post

Does anybody knows if that works with the 997 as well??? I did try it but I cannot make it work...... :?: Theo
