Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I considering buying a car with larger engine conversion from a 996. The donor motor is a 3.6 996 engine WP0AA299X2S623860 . Is this a good year for the 3.6 engine? If not, what type of failures can one expect? Thanks for the help. Rich

POST 2Original post

Not sure what you are asking. Curious why you are investigating what "failures" to look for. Like I said, not sure what you are asking. Why was to motor "upgraded" to the 3.6 to begin with? What year is the car that it is in. If you provide a bit more info we can help you accordingly.

POST 3Original post

yeah your question makes no sense to me either

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is a Boxster that has been converted to a 3.6. I am asking if this engine (per the Serial number) is from a good year knowing that the some of the engines have had early failures.

POST 5Original post

True, there have been engine failures, albeit a very small number. However, there is no such thing as a good (better) year.......since they ALL are.

POST 6Original post

the engine is out of an 02, 02 was a fine year
