Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The idea started when following a 997 model home the other night. I noticed that unlike the 996 the rear lights at night light up all the way round the base of the lamp. My opinion is this looks much nicer than the small squares you see on a 996 model in the dark. I wanted to achieve a similar look. This I found was quite simple to achieve, simply convert the fog light from single filament 12v21w to a tail and fog. All you need is a pair of fog and tail or stop and tail type bulb holders, bulbs and 1 foot of wire. Once wired, this means when the lights are turned on most of the light at the base lights up, pull the switch to turn on the fogs and the outer parts go to a bright/high intensity. Looks great IMO I will work on getting part numbers for the holders & bulbs plus I will do a simple wiring diagram incase anyone else is interested. Lloyd

POST 4Original post

How bizzare! I had exactly the same thought earlier today... I'd be really interested to see a DIY on this as I'd really like to make the change. Rob

POST 9Original post

C'mon Lloyd we are all waiting here.....this is the most excitng news I'm going to get today!!

POST 10Original post

Yer Lloyd come on, the 911 world is waiting with baited breath. It sounds like a tail end revolution in the making. :useless: I got me bulbs ready. It's not too much like a 997 I hope I wouldn't want me 6 being confused with one of them cars?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, this much interest I think I should design a kit... Next week - Lloyd on Dragons Den! Ok, I am at work at the moment, will do my best to get some photos done tonight. You do know to get the jist of this all you need to do is turn on your fog lights and see what you think. Ok, a little brighter but you'll get the idea. :thumb:

POST 12Original post

I bet you'll now get 50 posts "only one of my foglights is working"

POST 13Original post

..Ummm.....only one of my foglights is working?

POST 14Original post

Only one of them should be working...isn't it? Taran :dont know:

POST 15Original post

Yes, I was surprised to find when we had the boxster that there's only an off-side fog lamp. The same's true of the 997 too. Seems an odd design decision to me :dont know: I'd be interested to hear if any 996/997 owners have installed an off-side rear foglamp :?: Cheers, Roy
