I left the car for a long holiday and after three months, battery is totally dead. After recharging, the gearbox defaults to limp mode ALL THE TIME. Has anyone had similar experience before and can you share how you resolved the problem eventually? And where would I be able to find a parts catalogue of the Cayman tiptronics gearbox?

Stuck in 4th gear cannot go beyond about 50km/h.
There is something wrong with your transmission, and you need to take it in for service. I recall reading in the manual that if the TipS engages 4th gear and is blinking (can't recall if it blinks or not) than this is the default gear that will always be selected and indicates a problem with your tranny/ gears and that you need to take it in for service. Does it always stay in 4th gear? can you shift out of it with the rocker switches? Is the gear light blinking? Look in the manual, I'm recalling this from when I last read.
Yes it always stays in 4th. Car is already in for service but dealer can't figure out why so far. I am going to suggest re-flashing ECU. Perhaps the brain is confused.
Titanic, good luck and please do keep us posted. I have never heard of that problem and would be interested to hear their reason for this occurring. :crazy:
