Hello, After a year and a half, finally found my 996 C4S in Seal Grey! It currently has the sports seats and where the overall seat is comfy, i could just do with more room for my legs and the seat going further back. Does anyone know if you can take out the runner stops on the seats or buy extended runners for the sport seats? If i went down the route of buying aftermarket seats, could the runners be set back or would these have longer runners so the seat can go further back, towards the back seat? Thank you, Phil

If you got the seat further back, could you still reach the wheel? I found it was very short on reach when my car was stock.
Yes, i have long legs, short body. Sorry picture of the car too
Fair enough, I'm a long way from being the tallest man in the world (6'2"), but when I had the seat all the way back on the runners I was so stretched out in order to hold the wheel that it was far from comfortable. I found the stock seats to be quite high, moving to a Recaro bucket solved that for me.
Its just my leg room which is the slight issue at the moment. If i could move the seat back even more, i could still reach the wheel.
If you're comfortable losing the air bag a momo model 07 will bring the wheel closer so you can have the seat further back. I'm 6'2" (when I get up!!) and have always been comfortable and never felt the need for the centre console delete. It is all down to leg / body length. Ian
The steering wheel is fine, i have it pulled as far as it will go towards me, so my knees are ok, its just the actual length for my legs. I could just do with the actual seat going back further and extended runners would be perfect but i am not sure there is such an option.
Has anyone used this before or think this could work? Link to the bracket and install guide below - http://extendmyseat.com/brands/Porsche.html http://extendmyseat.com/content/ins...986_1996-2004_Extender_Installation_Guide.pdf
The other alternative Phil, is the storage cubby delete. As pre the GT3 Model. You can but the kit (including a little bit if carpet) and remove the lower storage cubby, this gives your left leg more room. Hopefully someone will come along with a photo. Paul
I fitted the "GT3" console delete n my 2001 Carrera 2 and it was a revelation. I'm 6'5" with a 34" + inseam and fit really comfortably. The difference comes because you can angle your inboard leg just a bit closer to the centre of the car and thereby give you much more wheel clearance. The console delete is available from your OPC and costs, as I recall, about £130. Easy DIY fit. The only downside I can see is that you will no longer be able to fit a double DIN audio system.
Big advantage of moving the wheel closer is that as it gets further away from the dash it goes up, due to the angle of the steering column, this was a relegation for me as I could get my legs underneath the wheel, rather than out to either side of it. When I first got the car, and had a centre console, if I turned left I would punch myself in the leg if I held onto the wheel with my left hand. First modification I did was the centre console delete, but if I'd done the wheel first I would not have needed/wanted to do the console delete for fit reasons. I still would have done it as I think it looks a lot better.
Thank you for the replies. My knee positions are ok with the centre console and steering wheel pulled all the way towards me. It's the actual seat i want to have more travel with, going backwards. It looks as though the extender brackets on the link above could be the answer but it seems that no one has tried these in the UK? Thanks, Phil
