Hi, I just bought a wonderful 2009 Boxster S. I've looked through the manuals, but can't find any mention, description, or illustration of the attached. The light in the center glows blue on and off. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what it might be? and/or how to use it? Its at the left side of the dash, right next to the Light Switch. I'm convinced that it has something to do with the phone, blue-tooth connection. By the way, the car has PCM 3, with Navigation and bluetooth, and universal audio connections, with the Bose premium audio... Thanks in advance for any guidance...

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

someone added it, but don't know what it does except for the phone icon, maybe it lets you tap into other people's phone while driving!
looks like a standard issue government tracking device to me. you're gonna wanna hand over those keys to me and i'll take care of it [emoji6][emoji6]
My Google-Fu is strong today. It is apparently a GuidePoint Systems Stolen Vehicle Location Monitoring/Recovery system. https://m.reddit.com/r/whatisthisth...now_what_these_buttons_do_or_really_how/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=truep
Many thanks! That's great to know. Now, I gotta figure how to get it out...
Reading through the info on the Guidepoint website, the sooner that device is removed the better. Tracking of fleet vehicles and maybe even a car driven by a teenager I can understand...but why would anyone want one of these things in their Porsche sports car? The less people know about me and where I go, when, and at what speed, the happier I am. All the safety and concierge stuff can be done with a phone. This is a monitoring/reporting device...no matter how it's sugar-coated.
Push the buttons and see if the police show up?
