So after a fairly short search I pulled the trigger and bought this car yesterday.... https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...9-996-carrera-4s----------------2002/10442202 Had a drive back from the isle of wight last night to surrey and didnt really explore the performance but from the bit I did it was fantastic! So planted and an excellent noise! My 3 year boy was beside himself with excitement when I drove up the drive! Very much looking forward to some fun drives soon

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welcome. Saw your thread leading up to the purchase on Pistonheads. Worth every penny with the capacity increase rebuild.

Superb car, well done and hope it brings many years of environment :thumb: + welcome to 911uk
An excellent buy! No-brainer for the money given the price of the build and its general maintenance. Hope you and your lad have many happy trips out.
Congrats and agree with sentiment that this was a no brainer. I think you got fantastic value in that particular car...And welcom to the 3.9 club My kids love going for a spin in mine - so you'll have amny happy years of motorting with your 3 year old. Enjoy. :thumb:

Did you get to do the A3 Hindhead tunnel ? A great buy at a great price, well done !
Thanks for the welcome guys! Glad you feel the car is a good one! It certainly feels great to me! I didn't go via the hind head tunnel doh! Should have done! Went up the M3 Was very impressed with the MPG, from getting off the ferry in southampton to arriving in Epsom it averaged just over 31mpg and that was going at a steady 75mph. Sorry I expect I will be banned from the forum for that comment!
31mpg is interesting... shows the 3.9 conversion doesn't hurt the MPG... Did you declare the engine to the insurance co as a 'mod', if so did they load the premium?
Yes the engine is declared to insurance and has also been corrected on the V5. unfortunately it has meant that I couldnt go through admiral which would have been £300 but had to go through adrian flux at £750.
Took my wife and son for a ride this eve and gave it the full beans a few times, their reactions were fantastic, took some serious negotiation plus tears getting my son out the car when we got home! Wipers are terrible so have ordered some PIAA silicone ones that I have fitted to my other cars. The headlights are also pretty woeful (non litronic) So will get an HID kit as a short term solution as would like to properly upgrade to litronic's incl the self leveling in the medium term.
Are LED kits available? To be honest even the Litronics feel pretty last-season compared to current lighting and would cost megabucks.
