Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Possibly the dumb question of the week, but here goes: Was cleaning out my CS with the engine off and noticed a flashing red light in the upper right hand corner of the radio screen ( Bose 5.1 system, no nav). Pushed the radio on/off swith and it read "Protection." Do not have an alarm on the car. Key was out of the ignition. Nothing in the manual and can't locate the radio manual (if one came with the car). Anyone know what is going on?

POST 2Original post

I'm surprised you state your car doesn't have an alarm considering I was under the impression that all Cayman had alarms. The light in which you speak of is an indicator for the alarm for the radio and that it is active. Are you sure you don't have an alarm?

POST 3Original post

Puzzled me to for awhile. But it is in the radio manual as " Visual anti-theft device " "When the unit and the ignition are switched off, an LED blinks as a visual anit-theft device" (page 4 of the Radio manual) and it is even user adjustable see page 21 if you want to turn it off.

POST 4Original post

Red light mystery solved Sante Fe, thanks. Also will redouble my efforts to find the radio manual now that you have confirmed one existed.

POST 5Original post

i must not be very observant. after nearly a year of ownership (a month shy of a year), i just noticed the flashing red light on the radio last night. the light is not as bright as the central locking button light, in fact, its rather dim. the light appears to be around the passenger side knob of the radio.
