Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

http://www.midland-ferrari.co.uk/print_details.asp?ID=808 It's a UK spec import car. How much does that impact resale :dont know:

POST 2Original post

I had a look round it on Saturday, it looks mint, well looked after. I pass there every morning on my commute. They have had it approx 3 weeks now, I was speaking to them when they first had it, he said it maybe pitched at £40!!!! I said that was a tad steep, didn't expect to see it as low as that advert. Certainly worth a look.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. It's just the "import" status that is putting me off. My insurance company won't touch an import plus I'm concerned how it effects residuals in long run. Anyone any experience with impact of value of car for being an import ?

POST 4Original post

Not relevant on this car. Insurance companies have issues with Grey imports as they were never destined for the UK market and as a result many parts are difficult to obtain. This would have an impact on the cost of repairs to the vehicle hence the hike in price or not even want to insure it. However, cars from Germany are not Grey imports they are Parallel imports. These were made for the UK market but came over in a slightly different way to the norm. To be registered as a UK car it would need to come in via a dealer network but if marked as import it would have come in by say the military or privately. A typical Grey import would be a Skyline or FTO A typical Parallel import would be a 911 or a Golf You have to inform insurance companies of Grey import but not Parallel.

POST 5Original post

A quick question... how can you tell if a Porsche is an import (assuming that the seller doesn't tell you?)

POST 6Original post

On the front page of the V5c at the base there is a small notes section. That is where it will give the info like Imported 21/10/06 Sole importer concessionaire or car was written off etc etc

POST 8Original post

8) There is a country code in the service book, UK country code is C16, this is the case for the 997 for sure and it should be the same for 996

POST 9Original post

In the past I have imported a new BMW from Germany in 2000 and a new Toyota from Belgium in 2002.Both cars were full Uk spec and the only tell tell signs was that the pre delivery inspection was stamped by the main dealers in the imported country.V5 does not show import. When I sold both cars the private buyers did not ask if they were imported,I just showed them the paperwork of the full service histories from the main dealers in the UK and NOT the first page of the service book. Both cars they were ordered in full UK spec and instead of delevery to the UK dealers they were sent to the Germany/Belgium dealers and I picked them up and drove back and and as the exchange rate was hell of a lot better than today I saved over £15,000. The good old days.Today you have buyers abroad buying from the UK to save money in some cases.

POST 10Original post

On both of the cars the v5 had no mention of import.

POST 11Original post

unless Porsche opened a factory in the UK and didn't tell anyone, they're all imported
