I finally got around to hardwiring the V1. I didn't want to tap into the homelink as others have mentioned so I found my own way. I don't have pictures as of today, but I'll try to describe in text for anyone who cares. I like the detector as high up on the windshield as possible (best view for the detector itself) on the driver's side (that way the controls are accessible) so I put it just to the left of the rear view mirror. I stuffed the power cable up into the area where the windshield meets the roof and ran it over to the a-pillar. From there I stuffed it behind the a-pillar and down to thedash. Next workthe cable in between the dash and the a-pillar and over to the door frame. You can then go down, behind the weatherstripping, and then under the dash. Plug the cable into the unit that comes with the V1 hardwire kit and mount it under the dash and back out of the way. Now all you need is ignition switched power and a ground. I grounded the unit on a screw that comes through the firewall and put a fuse tap on the fuse for the rear wiper. I don't have a rear wiper on my car but the fuse was there and it is switched on with the ignition. That's it. Looks good and it works. The only time you can seeany wires or cables is if you get on your hands and knees and look up under the dash. Installation time is about 10 minutes. It took me longer because I went through 5 or 6 fuses before I found one that wasn't powered all the time.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Would you mind sharing which fuse is for rear windshield wipers?
You can find all the fuse locations on the poop sheet that is found in the fuse box (in more languages than any of us know). I used the same installation method as COPE, and wrote an illustrated article which may help. Marty

Here are some pics of mine. You can't see anything with my install unless you remove the fuse cover. Here you can see where I put the hardwire kit.
Thx guys, I figured the rear wiper is C6.
