picked up my car today, amazing. Its got a PSE already on it, loud and fast as hell. My friend has a carrera2 also and he races my mate in his M3 always great fun and always wins. However, when i gave him a little friendly frag today, i destroyed him. My car must be highly tuned, scared to take it on a rolling road, but i found out today looking at the paperwork, its had a GT3 gearbox andlots of GT3 stuff fitted. anyone had any experience on rolling roads? Ive heard horror stories about them. We estimated my car to be around 390bhp +..is there another way to get a clear reading of what my baby is kicking out.. btw,it sounds more like a ferrari 360 than a carerra. Its amazing.. thanks

Huh?
dont worry mate, ur probz an old man , no need to reply.. Its for the younger drivers.
Huh?
Hi. Well done on the purchase. I'd be interested to know what they have done to get an extra 90 bhp out of the engine. It's got to be a lot more than just a PSE, which I would have thought would realistically only given maybe +10bhp tops. It's more sound than performance. Do you think it's been remapped or something? Perhaps pics of the engine bay would help. I wouldn't worry too much about rolling roads. I've put a few of my cars on one, and the myths about it harming cars are just that. Sure, it may damage a car which was sick anyway, but a healthy car should have no problems. Let us know what mods it has, and pics of the car. :thumb:
Steady on mate, you've only been here 5 minutes - no need to insult other members :wack: On the subject of your car, I guess it's possible, but highly unlikely that it is actually more powerful than a genuine GT3? As for the road-racing, I thought you said that it was YOUR M3 that your mate used to beat in his C2? :?: I am also a little surprised that it was less than a week ago that you joined and had never driven a 911 and was asking all sorts of questions about whether to go for a C2 or C4... Moved fast there didn't you? :thumb:
Re: MODDED 996 Interesting. Most tuners would suggest almost any NA engine is difficult and expensive to tune to any significant extent. This is particularly so on Porsche NA as they tend to be relatively high specific output (for their time) per litre as standard. Is your car a 3.4? If so putting out 390+ BHP means it matches the TT for BHP/litre. Perhaps the clue is the Ferrari 360 sound. They tend to have two extra cylinders, are arranged in a 90 degree "V" (rather than 180 degree boxer). They also rev like a scalded F1 car, to about 1,500 rpm higher than the red line on a standard 996. If you choose to RR it, make sure they use a calibrated dyno including temperature and pressure corrections (sadly, the ability to manually fiddle these inputs allows the RR to give you a chart showing any output you want!) You should also note that the GT3.1 gearbox (G96/90) has the same ratios for 1st and 4th and actually longer gearing than the standard 996 in 2nd, 5th and 6th. This would mean a possible theoretical higher top speed, but slower acceleration (assuming the same torque and power), only 3rd is shorter. The GT3.2 gearbox (G96/93) has longer ratios in all gears except 1st. PS - from this and your other posts you may wish to keep your road racing to 120 etc to yourself. Or simply respect your safety and that of other road users and don't do it full stop.
Maybe it's had a GT3 badge slapped on the back, that's always good for 90+ bhp!! :floor:
Is it half-term this week? :?:
390 i dont beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelive it :hand:
A GT3 'box wouldn't physically fit.
Re: MODDED 996 So basicaly you've bought a highly tuned 911 without knowing anything about it? :floor:
The only way you're going to get that result is either massive internal tweaking (ie a 3.9 litre conversion) and you'd know about that (£££££s) or a supercharger and that would be pretty damn obvious too... My theory is your friend's C2 is underperforming and yours is normal, WAY more likely... :?:
I do smell some 'creative' selling going on to the OP.... :?
You can easily get 390bhp out a 3.4 996 if you have the Two Way Assisted Transmision at the front.
