Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi, Today I received delivery of my first Porsche. Had it shipped from Texas to New Jersey. Unfortunately when I first turned on the car, I noticed a ticking noise. I looked through this forum and found that this generation Cayman is known for having a ticking noise. Some threads mention injector noise. Im not sure if thats the case for my Cayman though. Can you guys with more experience check out the videos I posted and let me know what you think? any help is appreciated

POST 2Original post

I can not say what it is but it is not injector noise. I think I would remove the serpentine belt and start it. If it goes away it is something being driven on the front of the motor. Tensioner pulley or something ??

POST 3Original post

I have a "ticking" sound as well. I'd like to hear yours however the links you posted are "broken". I have a 2010 base cayman, PDK. Might you send the links to me?...[email removed]

POST 4Original post

I once chased this in my 986, I might be able to save you a lot of consternation and searching. As crazy as this sounds make sure you don't have a loose spark plug because it sounds like what you described, good luck!

see if this works for you doesnt sound Good at all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi6CTE2tWUc&feature=youtu.be

POST 6Original post

The noise is there and it is definitely not injector. Could be anything - from something relatively innocuous like WP to valve train or... I agree with the idea removing the belt first and see where it goes.
