Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know I'm going over old ground but thought I would ask just incase someone has found a cure recently. Fob (both) won't work locking or alarm. Red led flash quickly as they should but do nothing. Tried reversing battery etc but no avail. The only way to stop alarm is auto windows down and key in ignition before opening door. I've tried locking and unlocking etc without opening door but alas no. Long shot but thought I'd check. Cheers folks.

POST 2Original post

It sounds like your car has been locked with a fob but then the fob has died so you have unlocked the car with the key .. it kinda still keeps the car in alarm mode. Yours is a little confused as you should get 10 seconds with door open before the alarm triggers . Voltage problems to the alarm cu can cause the alarm to trigger even with the engine running . There is nothing new on fixing inop fobs that i've read recently and i think just about every possible way of fixing them is in this post .. http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=638638

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. If I unlock with the key I do get about 10 seconds to put key in ignition. Before the alarm goes off the car horn does a chirp, then following that it goes off. Cheers.

POST 4Original post

Try the options in the linked post but i'll be honest in saying they very rarely work for me and it's a new fob required . Only the battery reverse swop has ever worked .
