I couldn't help it. We has a huge rain here a couple of days ago and the weather got up to about 40F. All the salt was washed away and I just had to take her for a pre-spring drive. It was amazing. I love this car.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They really are quite beautiful cars, aren't they? We had a nice day here recently and I pulled mine out for a quick trip to meet a friend for coffee. My wife is familiar with the saying, "If you want to meet girls, get a puppy. If you want to meet dudes, get a Porsche." Upon my return home I told her, "Another guy hit on me in the parking lot today."
Nothing "cheat" about it. I love this car too, and I just drive it - all winter long. Admittedly, I wouldn't want anyone to see how dirty it is right now, and I do love my cars... but it's a CAR. Just take care of it and it will be fine! Sure, you'll get more surface rust, but as long as it's not missing paint (and waxes/sealants to protect it) it will be fine - that's what that stuff is for, after all! Granted, that's my take, so you do you... but I'd rather drive my car any day, than ever "have" to drive a "beater". All my previous cars (that I also loved) were fine, well into their 150k+ miles... with no body rust to see. I can't be doing something THAT wrong! Anyway, glad to see people are breaking their cars out when possible! After the rain and such is perfectly fine, as well!
Drove mine in the rain for the first time today. Only light rain. I do drive all winter though if it’s nice and dry. It was covered in salt dust one day. Gives me a chance to clean and wash. I did not buy this thing to look at it for months.
I drive mine year round.. if there's snow the Cayenne goes out (it's great in snow and I get to have fun trying to get it to slide around a bit).. but rain? Well if it's raining when I'm ready to leave and the Boxster is clean, the Cayenne gets taken (it lives outside all year), if it's raining while I'm out and about in the Boxster I just remember "I didn't buy this car tp preserve it for the next owner.."
I favor clear days and dry roads for the Cayman. That said, I live in Seattle, so ... you know, sometimes it rains.
I agree with the idea of not "saving the car for the next owner" but having a totally rust free Texas car in Wisconsin makes me not want to drive it on our heavily salted roads in the winter. The punishment of our winters is in direct proportion to the paradise of our summers. Plus every spring I feel like I got a brand new Porsche.
I'm in the "drive it like a rented mule" camp. We don't get snow here but it gets driven almost every day. I had the front fenders and hood PPFed and had the whole car ceramic coated when I bought it. It gets parked outside but it still looks better than the day I bought it. Lately every time I think about washing it I look at the rain forecast and decide it can wait another week.
This winter [in Michigan] has provided plenty of days where it sneaks up into the low forties. It's been great to be able to get the Cayman out and about more often. Good for the car and good for my soul.
