Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Two thousand and six was a transition year to a larger IMS bearing. Some have the larger bearing (early ones) and some don't. The problem still exists but to a lesser degree.

2005 was the transitional year, all 2006's have the non serviceable IMS bearing,
so,the 2006 doesnt have the problem with the ims? what should i worry about with 108000 miles?
I believe there are some IMS failures but they were drastically reduced. I would be most concerned about normal high mileage car stuff. Suspension bushings, worn out shocks, clutch replacement, inop accessories, good service history documenting that the major services were done every 30k, etc.
There was a previous thread on Rennlist that stated the IMS issues still exists in 997.1 but at a much reduced rate, 1-2% compared to 5% in the 996. It cannot be serviced without splitting the engine. The 997.2 did away with the problem altogether.

Any model year that carried an IMS bearing has some level of failure risk, some years more than others. And, yes, the 2006 and later bearings still fail.
