Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2011 Cayman base with the I267-Automatically dimmable mirrors. My insode rear-view mirror brok and I need to replace it. I removed it and can see that the p/n is: I can find a number of parts that are similar, but differ in the last 2 digits. I'd like an equivalent replacement part, but am unsure if some of these other mirrors can be used. Can someone tell me what those digits mean?

POST 2Original post

Someone more knowledgeable can confirm, but I believe the final two digits are the revision number of the specific part.

POST 3Original post

987-731-511-03 is the part number on the part. doing internet searches shows part numbers like "987-731-511-0x-01C" is the "01C" maybe the revision number?

You might ask an online parts dealer: 2005-2012 Porsche Mirror Inside 987-731-511-05-01C | Sunset Porsche Parts - note they have a selection to "ask their team"... I also see none of these available used. Given that it's $600+ new from Porsche, if it was me, I'd be looking into getting it repaired. That's quite common on BMW self-dimming mirrors, and I believe the Porsche ones are made by the same manufacturer. On the BMW ones, they spring a leak and dribble corrosive liquid down on the center console destroying anything it comes in contact with. There is a place that fixes the BMW ones for around $150. The catalog listing above shows the succession of parts numbers for basically the same part. ALL of them have 01C, I suspect that may indicate the options the mirror has. How did yours "brok"? And the 987-731-511-05-01C mirror - if you search for it - (which the link above is) - it looks like the latest version.
