Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, what are the differences in the door jams on these 986s? The silver one is a 2001 and the blue a 2000. On the 2000 model the crevice seems deeper with some king of plug inside? Thanks

POST 2Original post

That is the arm for the top. It looks like a ball when the top is down.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your reply. So it is visible in the 2000 model and gone in the 2001. I have been looking at these lately and drove a 2001 last week. Very fun cars. I've been in the air cooled world for the last 20 years. Steve

POST 4Original post

I wasn't sure what you were referring to in your original post. In the picture below, I've circled in purple what alm001 is referring to. When I read your original post, I thought you were referring to what I've circled in red. I think what is circled in red is just a reflection of the latch below on the jamb, and due to the lighting that area looks deeper than the silver car, but in actuality both door jambs are the same.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I was referring to what you circled in red. Thanks for clearing that up Paul! Now that you pointed that out, I see that it is a reflection.
