Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know the correct torque settings for the two drive belt idler pulleys (rollers) on a 997.1 3.8? Wayne's DIY article doesn't mention them (only the tensioner pulley at 44 Ft-Lb is specified), nor does the Torque Settings thread in the DIY sticky on rennlist. I found the following values listed in the 986/987 Boxster section here, but I am not sure if they would be the same for a 997. According to Wayne, the 986/987 bolts should be "tightened to 34 ft-lb (46 Nm) for the upper bolt if it's an M10x145 (8.8) bolt or 48 ft-lb (65 Nm) if it's an M10x145 (10.9). The lower pulley is tightened to 17 ft-lb (23 Nm)." The tension roller for both the 997 and the Boxsters is torqued to 44 Ft-Lb, but I didn't want to assume the idler rollers were the same between the two models.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
